Is Independent Study worth it?

I'm seriously considering doing this, and I was wondering if it's worth it or not. I don't want to make a huge mistake and regret it. And yes, I have valid reason. I got the application today, and I can turn it in tomorrow and wait to hear from them really soon. I'm considering waiting because school just started, but I really can't decide.

  1. Whether it's "worth it" or not depends on what's important to you.

Somebody who is super focused on being with others and having fun would probably not find independent study worth it.

Somebody who's focused on education and has other means of socializing and having fun would probably be fine.

Doing independent study in and of itself is neither the correct thing to do nor a mistake. Depends on you and your situation.

  2. It is good if u have enough knowledge on the concerned subject and all related books

If u  are ok with abv 2 Independent study is good

    All the best

  3. My daughter did independent study for her last two years of high school. It

    does have some advantages.

She was able to go more at her own pace.

There were drawbacks too though. She had less help from the teachers    (guess they weren't very interested in teaching) and She missed things like her prom and graduating with her friends. She wishes now that she had gone back to regular school for her senior year.

  4. If it doesn't work out for you-you can always go back. Do  you like working by yourself Are you motivated? Do you have a lot of other social connections and/or are you motivated to get out there and try new things?

    Best of Luck!

  5. It all depends on you do you have the will power to do the work without being supervised. Will you meet the deadlines before hand or just work in your pace. If you are a hardworking person yes it is worth it. I did it  and actually learned more by myself then I have ever learned in school  period. If you are just going to meet deadlines  or not meet them . Then no its not worth it you might as well sit in class and have an excuse why  you are not getting enough credits  well good luck in your decision.
