India may boast of IT and BPO industry, but what about Illiteracy, poverty, unemployment, bad roads, power cuts, water problem, garbage lying here and there, cows and pigs roaming around in the streets dropping cowdung, stinking footpaths, corruption, high prices etc, to name just a few?

  1. No, india can really shine when corruption and black marketing and other negative ailments from the public private sectors are removed!

  2. While India continues to have the problems you mention, it is also in a rapid state of accension.

The detriments that lead to the problems you cite include a democracy with so many parties that legislation barely moves.  There is also a caste problem that leads to cultural roadblocks, and issues with religous intolerance.

On the other hand India has a growing higher education system, two major modernization treaties with the US with major positive implications (one nuclear and one trade), and India is being seen as more of an ally by the west because of terrorism (see the decline of Pakistan as a western ally) and the rise of China.

As India draws closer in relations with the west (Europe and N. America) I think the problems you see will continue to lessen.

You are correct in your assesment of India's problems.  Let's hope India moves more quickly in the right direction to alleviate its problems.

    Good luck to you.

  3. like our world, one side shining, the other side dark yet
