If you have the time and know about insurance would you mind answering a few questions? I have spoken to friends and family but it always comes down to "if it's what you want to do" type answer.

Are you an agent? What made you decide on insurance as a career?

Pros and Cons?

1. What is your impression of an Insurance Agent?

2. Do you have an Agent?

Yes. What do you like about them?

3. Do you ever review your insurance?

Yes. How often?

4. Has your family and/or financial status changed from when you first took out the policy?

Yes. Have you updated the policy to match your new financial picture?

5. Do you carry all insurance policies with the same company? IE life, health, home and auto.

Thank you all for your comments!!

  1. try http://about-insurance.weebly.com you can learn more about insurance and you can get fre quotes that you can compare for others. after you get your fre quote someone from customer service might call you to explain and clarify all your question.

  2. 1. I am an agent, and it depends on who you ask as far as what kind of answer you will get to 'What is your impression..?' I am very honest and straight forward yet very professional in my delivery. I am not going to guarantee coverage to anyone, and if the process is going to be more difficult for a particular person, I always let them know upfront. I see no use in wasting my time or any potential client. I've never lost a client due to honesty.

    3. I review my clients health insurance policies on a quarterly basis. If I receive a rate adjustment notification, I will pull the file and immediately review. On group health insurance, I review at yearly renewal, but I remain in contact with them through out the year offering assistance and policy service where needed. Life insurance: term, I review periodically and always about 3-4 months before their term is up.

    4. I always let my clients know that if there are any major changes in their family or financial structure to call our office. We are also financial planners, so we can help them w/product selection and structure.

    5. I specialize in life and health products. I am an independent agent, so I can sell for several companies. A captive agent, ie State Farm, Farmers, can only sell their company's products.

    Hope this helps.

  3. If it's what you want to do.

  4. Ive worked in the insurance business for 2 years and im only 17. Ive talked with my boss (the agent) on many occasions to see if it is a wise career choice. Hes making six figures by being an insurance agent, HOWEVER, the business has changed in the last ten years. Some agents are only pulling in 80,000 gross which in turn they net only around 50,000 or less. It is a great way to get your foot in the door to the business and finance world but I would not recommend it at all for a career path.

The reason in the decline of income in agents is because the insurance companies are making it more commissioned based rather than salary based. Even when it comes to office supplies. For example. In our office we have computers to pull up information of clients, make endorsements, make payments, and do the overall business. If you need another computer for support staff the insurance company pays for it and technically owns it. As of 2009 our insurance company is making the agents themselves pay for the computer systems out of their own pocket. Its the little things that will add up in the long run. Hope this helps!
