Is Ipod really worth it?

Question

Would I be better just buying an Ipod (if so whats the best one to get?) or are there any cheaper MP3's that are just as good? Thanks.

if you have a music collection that is over 10gb and you must have access to your entire music collection all the time , then the an Ipod or Zune is worth it. if you only listen to a few CDs at a time , then you can do just fine with a flash based MP3 Player of 2GB. The better Flash based MP3 players are those made by recognisable companies;Sony,RCA,Creative,Samsung,etc. You can also consider some of the better generic manufacturers like, Truly, GPX, PQI,Nextar,Anko.

I Wondered this myself because i have had two previous players one an iriver which lasted 5 years until it literally started to fall apart, it was a great little player with amazing ability to power huge headphones and had great sound quality and bass. Then i had a creative zen and the software crashed within days and putting video on it was very difficult. Now i have the ipod classic 80 Gb. so far it has been a great player and has very good sound quality, not as much power to power large headphones but the ease of use is exceptional, and itunes isnt as hard to use as i thought. my only main complaint is that if your non itunes albums dont have all the exact same artists and album names then it wont put them together and you end up with 20 different albums with all the same names, its not too big of a problem but renaming files can be very time consuming and annoying, but eventually it has been my favorite player.

Umm i have both, i would say if you wanna look at pics or watch vids get the ipod i have the new ipod nano and i  love it its easier to get through the songs to! but if you just want something cheap the Zen nano plus is good to you can put like five hundred songs on it so its cool but i would go with the ipod if you dont mind spending a little and mp3 if your looking for cheap

I have an ipod and I am totally in LOVE with it and highly recommend any. If you are poor and looking for something really cheap I guess you could go for the mp3 but ipod are better. I have an ipod touch but they are a little on the spendy side ( I got mine for $239 from B&H photo video) so again if you are going for something cheaper go for the new ipod nano. I had one before I had my ipod touch and it was great I just wanted to upgrade so I sold my old one. But anyways yes they are definately worth the few extra bucks!!

I always thought an ipod was a waste of money cuz i could always just buy cds, but it is soo worth it! You end up paying less money because you get to choose the songs instead of purchasing a whole cd. if you buy a CD u usually end up just listening to a couple songs. when buying certain songs you end up saving money and having the option of customizing your ipod.

i would suggest the ipod because it is so much simpler than MP3s. my mom bought an MP3 and i couldn't even figure it out. Ipods have most all of the kinks worked out. I have the ipod nano 2nd generation. its perfect. personally, i wouldnt go for the technical ones like the ipod video or touch because they do the same things but just are more technical. i just use my ipod for music. and most people with the video dont even hav videos on it. the ipod touch is just an ipod with video, pics and internet access. but if your just in it for the music, any nano would be the right choice.

it depends what you want to use it for. if its functionality then get an ipod touch. if its just memory then get an ipod classic. but if you want something small, light and thin, then get a nano 3rd generation. however - if you want something REALLY basic and simple then just get an ipod shuffle. hope i helped =]

I'm not sure if there are cheaper MP3s that are just as good but an Ipod is definitely worth it. Better sound, good displays, amazing graphics, very stylish. I love my Classic.

well im getting an ipod nano tom. and idk i could get a mp3 player for like 70 bucks but i like to play games, whatch mucis videos and movies and u can do that all on the ipod nano and its the ipod is so in right now.

IPODS are fantastic!!! I use mine all the time - and think it was totally worth the money - regular MP3's are not as good as IPOD's.

i have had alot of mp3's and so far my 80 gig ipod has been the best one yet
