No. Iran is a very safe country and, like many Islamic countries, treats its guests exceptionally well, even guests from countries they don't like. But it's difficult for Americans to get visas to travel there -- both the USA government and the Iranian government can stand in your way.

If you are interested in going, go over to http://www.lonelyplanet.com and click on "The Thorn Tree" --- that's the message board, and various travelers post about their activities. Iran is a popular destination and you can read about what various travelers have done there.

i would think so. i would do a yahoo search for the government website where they list warnings to american's traveling abroad. you could also make contact with our embassy over there regarding saftey of americans traveling in iran.

The world is a dangerous place to travel for Americans. I don't think you will find particular anamosity towards you in Iran but there are some quite rightly very upset people, so be careful.
