  1. No, just a small part of the island of Ireland is UK - Northern Ireland is part of the UK, the rest of the island is the Republic of Ireland. Any map of the island shows the demarcation.

All of Ireland is not part of the British Isles. Hasn't been for generations now.

Edit - And there were thirteen original British colonies that rebelled to win their independence and become the USA, not six as someone noted. It's part of the US flag - 13 stripes.

  2. NOOOOO!!!!!!! well, up north is but the republic is completely independent!! NEVER say that 2 an irish person!!

  3. From approx the 17th century, Ireland was but since the 1920s Ireland is an independent state. A part of Ireland in the north; nprthern Ireland consisting of 6 counties is still part of the UK; has the UK currency etc. This was the source of many political issues and violence.

The other 26 counties;the republic of Ireland is very much independent from the UK in everyway

It is a HUGE insult to say that to an irish person so dont ever say it to us!!!!!!

also ireland is not part of the british isles, that makes it sounds like we're part of britain and we are not

  4. All of Ireland is part of the British Isles but only Northern Ireland is part of the U.K.

  5. No part of Ireland is in the U.K.

  6. Northen Ireland is part of UK.Republic of Ireland is independant. It can be confusing because both of them are on the same island:)

  7. short and sweet no.
