  1. yes

  2. The Republic of Ireland is a separate country from Great Britain and the UK.  Northern Ireland is part of the UK.  Great Britain consists of England, Scotland, and Wales.

  3. Ireland has not been part of the UK, for 84 years. Hence the name, The Republic Of Ireland. Ring the Irish Embassy, they'll help you.

  4. Ire·land2 (Ä«r'lənd)  (Formerly Irish Free State also Eir·e (âr'ə, Ä«'rə, âr'ē, Ä«'rē))

A country occupying most of the island of Ireland. The Irish Free State was established by treaty with Great Britain as a dominion within the Commonwealth of Nations in 1922, and it officially became the sovereign state of Eire in 1937. Full independence came in 1949 when the Republic of Ireland was proclaimed, and the country withdrew from the Commonwealth. Dublin is the capital and the largest city. Population: 4,010,000.

  5. You will most likely have to go through the Irish Embassy, as Southern Ireland is a seperate country to Northern Ireland which is governed  by British rule. The British Embassy may be able to direct you. With Ireland being part of the E.E.C. there may be new laws in regards to visas.

  7. ireland is not a part of the uk .UK cosists of Wales, SCOTLAND AND ENGLAND.

  8. Separate country, the Rebublic of Ireland. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom.

I don't know how to get a visa.

  9. You may want to make sure you are absolutely clear on this before going to the West of Ireland.  They may not take kindly to any inferrence that the Republic is still part of the UK. :)

Anyhow, yes, Ireland is an independent country.  The ISLAND of Ireland contains the Republic of Ireland (Eire) and The UK Province of Northern Ireland.  In terms of large cities, Cork, Limerick, Dublin and Galway are in the Republic.  Belfast is in the Northern provinces currently occupied by the British.
