Hi again; I come with more questions. I am of Chilean, Mexican and Venezuelan heritage so I want to go somewhere where I can pick up the specific accent. I want to know if the accent on Isla Margarita is much different than that of other parts of Venezuela. Also, is it safe for a minor (17) to travel alone there? I heard there isn't much crime. Thanks again!

  1. I think Merida might be better, it's pretty safe and there's a university, lots of students you could blend in with the crowd. Not too sure about accents.

  2. It's not really safe you you to travel here alone. It's not that different how they talk there as to how they talk in Caracas. If you want a different accent then go to Maracaibo.

  3. I wouldn't recommend a 17 year old walk alone at night in the US or in Venezuela. In Sweden it's ok.

As far as accent, there are several in Venezuela and the one in Margarita is similar to the entire Costa Oriental region that includes Puerto La Cruz and Cumana.
