  1. yes

  2. House rules gotta be followed.

However, the rules need to be age appropriate.  If she doesn't want to follow the rules and is unwilling to try and negotiate some changes with her parents, then some sort of consequence needs to happen.  I have no idea what the relationship is, but it seems like talking it out should resolve matters, not some form of "punishment."

  3. There is nothing suitable. However, it is important to follow the rules at where you're staying, where it's a hotel, your home, a dorm, your friend's house, etc.

  4. If you are under their roof...you have to follow their rules. A suitable punishment would depend on what they did exactly. If you are old enough to go to college then there is no reason you can't follow their rules. If you don't want to abide by those then stay living on your own where you make the rules.

  5. If you live in my house and cant follow the rules you either take a punishment or move the h**l out on your own...

Welcome to the real world... there are rules everywhere and they need to be followed...

  6. If she is messing up at college failing her classes and mom and dad are spending a fortune on classes and dorm.

Then YES it is fair punishment.  She can go to a public local college and stay at home.

However, if she is getting great grades and they just don't like the weekend parties or boyfriend...Then NO.

Kinda need more information- did she steal the credit card? Then i would just leave her broke at school. haha

  7. I think once you are 18 and in college your parents can't ground you at all and if they are that's just flat out weird

  8. Yes.

After the age of 18 - you are a legal adult.  However, it is not your property or home.  You are using it, and therefore should follow the rules of that home.  Just like if you were to go to a hotel - you have to follow their rules if you want to stay there.

  9. YES!! If they live under the parents house then they need to follow the rules whether they like them or not! If they don't like them and can't follow them then they need to move out!

  10. Regardless if they are an adult or not, talk to them about it and be sure they understand you and let them know that if they don't abide by your house rules then they will have to leave because it is your home but don't say it that harsh because you don't want her to resent you but don't let her run you over either!

  11. you have to follow house rules if you live at home. even if you are thirty.

  12. Need a little more info, what was done?

It does not matter where you go you should respect the rules of the house you are staying in whether it is your own families or a friends.

  13. Maybe not punish, but parents have every right to set ground rules in their own home. If you can't/won't follow them, find somewhere else to stay.

  14. I'm guessing your thinking my roof my rules...that's good and all, but unless it was super bad I should think that you wouldn't want to push her away as she's probably gone a lot anyway, but it's up to you.  I don't think there would be a suitable punishment for a grown adult for breaking the parents rules.

  15. I think it's fair as long as you are staying in there house. When I was in college I still had rules that I had to follow while staying at home.

  16. For not following House rules?

What exactly did she do? I think it depends on what type of house rule did she break.

Did she come home LATE? <-----Bad.

Did she have a party while parents were away?<----Bad

Did she smoke in the house?<----Bad

Did she bring her boyfriend over at night...through the window<-----Bad....lol.

So see..it depends on what she did. On what kind of rule she broke.

    Car...phone calls...parties...and so on..

Should be restricted up to a point.

  17. Sorry, but it is fair.

Punishments could include grounding, no phone,

    no car etc..
