  1. yes go to maplins and you can buy a reciver, there not to expencive

  2. It's quite legal and groups of enthusiasts can be seen regularly at airports listening to incoming and outgoing flights.

  3. It can't be, but acting on, or interfering, that probably is.

  4. You can listen all you want, just don't transmit.

  5. Technically it is an offence to listen to air to ground transmissions. You will probably find warnings to this effect in any half decent book or frequency listing. However the authorities tend to turn a blind eye to the practice, as long as you dont make a nuisance of yourself .  If you act responsibly, you would be very unlucky to find yourself in trouble.

  6. Its legal......I used to have a scanner, but not any more....

  7. Its perfectly legal. But I would suggest only buying a receiver cause if you accidentally transmit you would block the frequency. And most modern airports have VDF(VHF Direction Finding), which means they can track any broadcast made on their frequency, in which case the authorities will pay you an embarrassing visit:)

  8. As long as you don't, BY ANY MEANS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, transmit on their frequency its fine to LISTEN.

    Listen DON'T talk.

  9. Technically UK law says it's illegal, but no body cares unless you make a nuisance of yourself by transmitting rubbish, or broadcasting the channel- so a personal radio is fine!

  10. nope, just don't interfere with it!

  11. Yes , You can Listen...

You could also TRANSMIT... Ask'm for a radio check...

    Happens all the time....
