Question:

Is It My Dad's Responsibility To Contact Me, Or Is It Mine??

My father left when I was 10 years old. I live with my mom now. For about 2-3ish years I went over to his parent's house (where he lived) to visit him and spend the night.

Now I'm 16 and I haven't seen him since Christmas of 06'.

He hardly ever calls me, if he does, it's "hey I miss you. When can I see you?" the he doesn't call back for awhile.

Is it my job to try to contact him, or is it his?

I'm just confused at this point.

I mean, nah, I don't really miss him. But I feel sorry for him.

He's been a huge cause of my depression and anxiety, my therapist thinks.

He also has another son (my brother). Doesn't contact him either.

No one here talks about it. I'm just lost in this place.

Is it my fault that we lost contact?

*He was (maybe still is) a "druggie" and drinks every now and then. His parents are very rude to us when we did see them. They swore at me in German when I was young.

  1. It is your father's fault you guys lost contact.

    YOUR FATHER'S FAULT.

But if you love your father, write him letters. Make your brother do it to. Once a week, or once every two weeks is good. In you letters, make sure he knows that you still love him and wish you can see him again. Maybe that will make him kick his habit and wise up.

PS - you don't need to write a letter. But it might help your dad.
