Question:

Is It Now a Social Standard For a Girl to Have Her Area Shaved?

These days most people are grossed out at the thought of an unshaved v****a when for ages it was completely natural and acceptable. I mean pubic hair IS there for a reason. Now leaving yourself natural seems to be considered dirty by most. What ae your thoughts on the subject.

Also if anyone knows, what are the statistics of girls under 30 who are shaved versus those who are unshaved?

  1. shaved or not.....  just to have a girl who loves me is priceless

  2. I like to see some hair down there because it looks natural. I'd probably be put off by a downstairs afro, but a bit of hair makes a girl look beautiful and natural. Completely shaven it can almost look under-aged and that's a BIG put off!

  3. Hey, to each her own. Personally, I think a bunch of hair down there (as anywhere other than one's head) is unappealing. That's me though. I'm sure some people feel differently. I don't know the stats but waxing and shaving seem to be pretty popular among 20 somethings, too.

EDIT- So I get a thumbs down because I'm not hairy and don't prefer being that way. Isn't that just great?

  4. I dont know about grossed out thats a bit strong ,not pulling air out of your teeth and from the back of your throat is a good thing along with the undesirale crusty bits for breakfast the fuzz promotes, astecticly you can see more of the littel tresures hidden away not alot of ladys are fortunate enough to have nice big liped jobies. on the down side the silky slippery feel only last a day at best then its sandpaper time so its a lot of work for you girls to maintain ,dont know about the defoliation by wax that would be a fun job to do if it didnt look so painful. and after trying out one off those chemical floor stripers that have you doing laps round the bathroom for half and hour with your croutch on fire never again, variety is the spice of life now toupes or wigs for the vag theres a money making idea. more importantly blokes are just happy to get there hands on one no matter if it looks like the yetis bum crack gone ferral or not.

  5. I don't!! lol And I'm 23. Although I wish I didn't as it does annoy me - I do keep it trimmed and neat though....

  6. You know...I think it just FEELS better rather than the look for women.  It's also easier to keep "fresh" if you know what I mean.  Underarm hair is there for a reason as is leg hair for women...but EXACTLY what IS that reason?  lol.  Socially, we have been taught that we should shave under our arms and legs, you know?  But for women, I think it feels better as a woman to feel smooth and soft.  Also, when men "manscape" down there...it's easier to us to want to BE down there.  I think the same applies for men with women.  There's nothing worse then kissing the one your with and having a hair in your mouth.  LMAO!

  7. It's not a social norm and it's actually more hygienic (in a sense) for you not to shave but whatever.

  8. SHAVVVEEE ITS THE 21 1ST CENTUREY NO ONE SHAVED IN THE CAVE AGE BECASE RAZORS WERENT AROUNDD

IM SORRY BUT TO NOT SHAVE IS NASSSSSSSTY

  9. I get what you mean and I agree that it is there for a reason.

In my opinion, getting it trim is better than shaving all of them off.

  10. Personally I believe this comes from the perspective of each persons sexual desirability.  I like a "runway strip" myself but the 70's bushy look just get's in the way when possible oral pleasures are considered.

  11. One lady in my office gets waxed weekly. The other is all natural. The other shaves, I trim. 4 different woman- 4 different ways of being. The one under 30 is the one who shaves.

  12. Lol im 23 yrs old and i dont change for any man. I shave but not completely. I think men who prefer a fully shaved v****a are perverts because having hair down there you are definately a woman. Having no hair down there is like pleasuring a 6 yr old. Seriously think about it.

Its not that important to be completely bald. Just trim it a little. I swear some men can be fussy

  13. Yeah, keep 'em shaved, ladies.

  14. theres natural, and theres bushy,  bushy and unkempt isnt a good look, (and get stuck in the teeth),  but natural, and maintained, wether that be a stripe, bald and smooth, or even shave your patch into a lighting bolt, or anything humourous,  all is good,  but smooth also lets us see what were doing!, and that has to be a good thing for you, no?..

  15. Nah, plenty of blokes like both.

Though if you are wearing a swimming costume grooming is neccesary.

  16. I don't think it's expected.. Preferred maybe.. But I do think it's expected to at least keep things neat..

Although I also think guys should just think themselves lucky they're getting anywhere near "lady town" in the first place.. =P

I'm 18 and I shave because I just don't like being hairy, and because it feels cleaner, not to impress anyone..

And being bi I'd prefer a woman to be shaved, but definitely wouldn't be put off if she wasn't. Same goes for guys, a bit of "manscaping" never goes astray.. =P

  17. It is more of a fashion than a standard.  The shaving started when bikinis were first introduced and women didn't want hair peeking out from their skimpy bikini bottom.  Some people think shaving's great.  I don't.  Why remove something that's perfectly normal and natural?  Doesn't make sense to me.  Besides that, if the person is clean down below then there's no reason to shave.  Also, it makes a grown woman (or man - yes, some men do shave there too) look like a kid.  That's a turn off for me.

  18. Not too sure on statistics, but for the record, I'm a 21 year old male and certainly don't expect it.

Like you say, evolution has left us with hair on certain parts of our body for different reasons ie, warmth or in the case of eyes and other parts, to protect sensitive internal tissue.

I think it foolish to think that any male would have a major issue with some hair down there, aesthetically though I see nothing wrong with a trim here and there.

  19. so im assuming u dont shave lol

  20. The short answer for this is yes.

The long answer: Beginning at the turn of the century, you would have been hard pressed to find a woman that even shaved her legs. When it became acceptable for women to wear their dresses above the ankle, you started seeing women wear knee stockings or shave that high.

By the 40s, a woman could wear a dress as high as her knees without it being considered scandalizing. During the World War II, silk was needed for parachutes, so there was a shortage for what we call pantyhose. So women had to shave their legs as a substitute to make them continue to seem smooth.

As time goes on, women start to wear sleeveless shirts and tank tops and such, which is why they shave the underarm area.

As time goes on, and it becomes more acceptable for a woman to expose more of herself publicly. Therefore leading to a woman feeling they have to remain the fairer s*x by maintaining themselves better than a man would.

Thus, as we see more of a women in movies and magazines like Playboy. Most will have themselves trimmed nicely.

I personally don't care for the shaved completely thing, Trimmed up real good is nice, and shaved around the important parts.

  21. Bold question. I don't think anyone would have an accurate statistic on this issue. Anyone can make one up, but I don't think it be the Truth. Most people simply USE statistics to sway people one way or another.

It's the only math that is not TRUE math.

It's what you'd prefer and what the person you wish to please prefers.

I do agree with the person that said women didn't shave that area before because, before, razors will not allow you to do that safely.  There are many other methods for unwanted hair removal now too.

I really don't think hygenics has anything to do with it.

  22. it depends on you. if you don't like to shave, but the guy wants you to shave, then he probably would not love you much like you love him. so you can either go with the guy who unconditionally loves you and doesn't care about your shaved or unshaved pubes or you can go with hot smoking guy who only wants to increase his chance of getting laid with another girls.

  23. It's being assimilated into etiquette nowadays.  Just like being polite at the dinner table, NOW we have hygiene and etiquette when it comes to where our hair grows.

Personally I prefer shaved as i like to do oral with my wife and having a pubic hair stuck in my mouth tends to 'ruin' the mood.  Granted if she trimmed it that's fine, but it IS a hygiene issue as well though because sweat and hair do NOT mix, and it can get quite smelly down there if during those hot summer months.

So social standard? Yea i think it's becoming part of the etiquette of the times....but it really doesn't matter to everyone, it's only a matter of personal preference to me.

  24. Let's clean this up a bit

First of all the correct word is v***a >hair doesn't grow in the v****a

Second of all the hygiene argument for shaving is completely bogus

If that was true then there would be these long and detailed medical records about women  who chose to not trim/shave  their pubic hair getting all these diseases and infections as a result >Those records don't exist

As a guy that has gone thru all the various permutations of facial hair {I currently have a goatee] I can tell you  that shaving and trimming have occasionallyly produced an  infection or two while going wild & wooly in winter never has.

Lastly there is something inherently perverted about the establishment of an unshaven/bald /hairless  female pubic area as the visual sexual ideal for an adult woman.

There is something very wrong with adult men that get turned on by seeing a pubic area that for all intents nd purposes looks like it belongs to a child

I am very much aware of how are social norms keep trying to push back the images of aging.

Looking forever young is the ideal  But when the norms have been pushed back so far that current ideal body for men and women is  pre-pubescent then  something is very wrong in our society indeed..and we need to fix it immediatley
