  1. you can also use a PC's power supply depending on how big the amp is. take the green wire and connect it to any black wire, that will act as the remote to the PSU and turn it on. then from the molex connector, take the yellow wire and run it to the power on the amp, and the black and run it to the ground on the amp. now...this wont ALWAYS work in every case as every PSU is different...but mine works fine

  2. Funny how nobody even touches on the power equirements of a power supply.

Yes it need sot be 12 volts but also about 10 amperes or it won't work at higher volumes.

  3. Get a voltage dropper/ converter and wire it as you would in your car. How do you think your local audio shop does it?

  4. Yes. Here is a differ way.

Get a 12v car battery and a battery charger. Be sure the battery is fully charged first, and at all times. Use charger when using the amp. Place your battery on a piece of board.

Wire your cd player to the battery. (Yellow & red to positive, black to ground.)

Wire the amp to the battery using the positive as 12+ and the ground as ground. Connect the remote from amp to the remote on cd player (light blue).

Run everything else. RCA's from the cd player to amp. Subs to the amp. Wire the mids/highs to the channels on the cd player.

Be sure to use charger so battery does not drain.

  5. It's possible, of course, but you have to remember that your car was DC and your house is AC so you'd better get some good advice from an electrician that knows what they are doing.

Also, car audio speakers are designed for that environment. If you have the money, then you will be better impressed with a speaker system that is designed for a house.

  6. gave up on owning a car, huh...

  7. Car speakers and subs are designed for tighter spaces, so you won't get as good of quality in a room as you would your car. It is possible to use the subs and speakers though.

  8. you have to hook your head unit up to a battery or can hook sub and speakers up to a house amp with the sub in a sub box with a port hole in it so dont listen to the other comment sayin you cant get the same quality noise you can if its in a box

  9. you need either a good surround or a radio and a 12 volt converter and just cut the power cords and wire them together

  10. YES. But remember your car stereo is 12Volts DC, so you would need a 12v power supply. A car battery charger works great !

  11. Easy, take plug in tranformer( phone / cordless drill charger, the black box that plugs into the wall) and wire into power of your car unit, hook up speakers etc... and presto!

EDIT: B D  has a good point about AC/DC! I don't know how safe my setup is but it works with no fire or blown fuses occuring but the transformer does heat up! I have left it on for days at a time with no problems but I might just be lucky!
