for 5 months so I DONT have my periods?

After 5 months are up, I will get a hysterectomy.

My pains are so severe, that I have great depression and pain for days on end when I have my period. So, is this safe, or are there side effects?

  1. Only a doctor can answer the question whether the pill is safe for you.

Doctors may prescribe HRT (hormone replacement therapy) to stop periods for months at a time for women who cannot deal with the periods for medical or lifestyle reasons.

In your case, it is possible that you have some underlying condition that taking the pill would be unsafe for you.  Consult your ob-gyn and be certain that whatever condition is causing your periods to be so miserable (possibly endometriosis) will not be a danger if you take the pill for an extended period of time.

  2. Yes its safe ive done it and i had a kid after that so it cant be that bad for you plus if ur having a historectomy anyway it shouldnt really matter that much
