Question:

Is It Strange To Want To Go On a Cruise Alone?

I am a divorced female. I have friends, but all are married with obligations of their own. I have an opportunity to go on a cruise in the summer as my childrens' father will be taking them for a week. Since there is no one available to go on vacation with and I currently am not in a relationship, do you think it strange to go alone? If so, do you think it is safe?

  1. I see nothing wrong with it. Before I got into my current relationship I vacationed alone. Of course you need to be careful but I see nothing wierd about it.

    Just go and enjoy yourself!

  2. Traveling alone has its pros and cons, like most things. If you like to have alone time, then it's probably not a bad idea. If you are outgoing, then it's also not a bad idea, since you will have opportunities to meet new people.

I've never been on a cruise,  but I have traveled alone. Being a woman traveling alone can be a little more risky, but as long as you keep a confident stance and a watchful eye on your surroundings and belongings, and do research about where you are going, you will most likely be fine.

Traveling alone for me was a great time to reflect on life and appreciate what I had. I learned a lot about myself and the person I want to be. Also, traveling alone is nice because you have no obligations but those to yourself. It's a perfect way to be selfish! I highly recommend it, as long as you don't mind being alone often!

  3. Absolutely not! I think that would be the ideal way to go. You wont have to worry about what the other person wants to do, you can just do what you want! Just be careful of people preying on females who are alone. Have fun!

  4. I think it is a great idea and very safe to do so. I have meet lots of single cruisers, one in particular was a wonderful lady about 75 years old with no fears. She was so nice and everyone loved to have dinner or tea with her. Now the main thing that you must know about going it alone is you pay about the same as two people would, but hey, you also have the whole cabin to yourself. By the way, I know Princess has some really good deals right now for Alaska cruises this summer.

  5. I've gone on a few cruises alone.  It was weird at first, but in the end I liked it.  Because, you can do whatever you want, and not have to worry about anyone else, and do what you want, when you want.

  6. My significant other and I are going on a cruise in May 2009.  We have a unique relationship - he does his thing, I do mine and we meet in the middle (if we feel like it).  He's my best friend in the whole world.  We've been together 12 years.  I would die for him, but we were afraid that we would be bored (being just the two of us) so he invited three of his male friends to come along.  I love them all, but now I'm going to be either the princess or the loner - I hope it's the latter.  They enjoy being "MEN" and the casino and the bars.  I enjoy reading and laying out - so this is going to work out perfectly.  He'll have his friends to keep him company, and I'll have my books and a lounge chair and the open sea air.  It works out perfectly.  Enjoy!  You're a MOM and you deserve to be pampered.

  7. There is nothing whatever strange about going on a cruise alone, many people do it and have a great time and I am sure you will as well. You will meet friendly people on board as you would on any holiday or if you want time to yourself you can.

Cruising alone is a safe as any other holiday, you just need to take as much care as you would normally.

I am sure you will enjoy it and have a fabulous time.

  8. i dont see why not . if its your first cruise maybe it would be better with someone...maybe someone who has been on a cruise would give you better advice.........go somewhere.good luck

  9. I went on a singles cruise by myself had the time of my life  and met my husband.  Go for it!

  10. I would love to go on a cruise alone.  It would be far more enjoyable than having to keep up with a group of friends or even one friend.  You can do whatever you like without having to cater to their every whim.
