  1. The illegal occupation of Iraq is the correct way of saying it.

Still, got to Support Our Troops who go there following orders.

  2. "The Iraq war"

  3. It's "the Iraq war." An Iraqi is a native of Iraq, primarily -- it's not just an adjective.

But strictly speaking it's "the U.S. invasion of Iraq," because it never really was a war according to the normal use of that word. A war involves armed conflict between countries and isn't so one-sided. Iraq neither attacked the U.S. nor did anything to warrant invading it.

  4. If you want to get that technical about it, none of them can be referred to as "war". In America, war must be declared formally by both houses of Congress. The last actual war we had was World War 2.  Korea was called the Korean Conflict. Viet Nam was called a police action. The first time with Iraq was Operation Desert Storm. This is Operation Iraqi Freedom.

  5. Phish is right. None of them can be legally called a war except world war1 and world war 2.
