There is a Rumor going around saying that Yahoo will delete

groups,if the member's Profile isn't filled out completely. That

the Owner responsibility is to make sure this is done.

  1. That is a false rumor.  If Yahoo did that, there would only be a very small handful of of groups left.

Some group owners do require that specific parts of a prospective member's public profile be completed in order to join their groups.  Many public profiles contain only a nickname.

When a person is registering with Yahoo, he/she is required to complete a Yahoo profile which is NOT public. (That is not the one we see when we click on someone's avatar or nickname).  There are specific area of this that are required, some areas are optional.

  2. Not necessarily.  Group owners will determine how much info.  My profile has minimal info in it.  There are some necessities, but I've managed groups where the list joiners didn't have much other than = Rip Van Winkle, anywhere USA, male

  3. this is a reply from a yahoo employee.

untrue, profiles have always been and still are optional. you don't even have to make your profile public, it's optional
