If you are lucky enough to get to a country that does not extradite to the US after committing a crime are you really home free?

There are many fugitives from the US in places like Serbia for example.

  1. uh huh

  2. Yes it's true in many cases......however it's also true that many of these countries also make the US prison system look like paradise once you have spent time in them

  3. yea its true you will br safe as long as your on land outside the country you did the crime

  4. The poster James hit the nail on the head, why should that country allow you to stay? Also certain countries will not extradite you back to the usa if your are a national citizen of that state

But try looking up this name Robert Vesco you will find relative to your question

  5. Yes, but that doesn't guaranty that the country won't change its extradition policy.

  6. Not entirely. The country you escape to could, theoretically, decide to extradite you anyway. Extradition treaties just establish reciprocal promises to extradite. There is nothing, in most cases to prevent extradition even in countries without extradition treaties. One exception would be that many countries have laws preventing the state from extraditing people who are facing the death penalty.

  7. I hate to say it but , Yes this is true. If the crime is bad enough, and a high reward is posted, some real serious people may come after you,  drag you back " Dead or Alive".

  8. Yes it is true
