Is It True That Prince William Is About To Be Posted to Fight In Afganistan?

I don't understand your argument Lisa.

He may be the 2nd in line to the throne but if he is killed there will always be someone else who will become 2nd in line to the throne.

It is not as if he or his family are in any way special. They are only there to open hospitals and provide gossip in the tabloids!

  1. It was reported on MSNBC (during that Diana anniversary) that he's not going to Afghanistan. They received several specific threats that he was being targeted, and the newscast said plans to send him there were now abolished.

  2. No.

  3. William will never be allowed to go to war. William will one day be king. If the queen has her way, Charles will never take the throne.

As for Harry, even he cannot go to war it seems... his tour of duty was cancelled.

  4. It is the first time I heard about this.

  5. well does it really matter their not the real royal family of the UK anyway. They derived from the House of Hannover changed their name to Windsor when WW2 when war broke to save themselves being ousted. The Queen owns BP making billions but still expects tax payers to foot her every bill. Their is very strong suggestion they were linked to killing Diana who has it happened is from the line of the Stewarts has more right to the throne than the Germans now on it. The Queen owns all land in the UK check the registry office and can request it back anytime. Your house doesnt even belong to you...... Bring back the real Kings like Arthur, Athelred, Alfred and Harold stood by their people and were fair and just

  6. i think he should go. why put him through all the training.

  7. I doubt it because he (and Harry too) would be very big targets.  Look at all the "normal" soldiers who are kidnapped, etc.  Do you really think that the Queen would EVER allow them to go?

  8. no! due to the recent strike by postal staff buckingham palace has decide the risk to prince william is to great.a palace spokesman said"kabul post office will not even guarantee recorded delivery"

  9. Even if it is, there will be so much media fog surrounding the actual events that no one is likely to know if he has been out and back until after the event.

It's a political 'hot potato' that no one wants to hold.

25 years ago, Prince Andrew flew choppers in the Falklands Conflict.

That's probably the last time a Royal will be in the firing line. War has changed dramatically over the last 100 years and these days, there is more of a guerilla style tactic to terrorism than the classic dawn raid or bloody conflict on a plain field.

  10. again, I'd like to stress.

The HRH's will not be going anywhere.

    think about it people, WHY????

  11. I wish he and harry would both go and be killed

Spare us the hype and this joke of a family

  12. No, he isn't.   I heard that he will be getting a desk job fro a while and then he will be retiring his commission to begin his training to be king.

  13. I doubt it. They didn't let Harry go to Iraq, so why would the let the  heir to the throne go to Afghanistan?

  14. He is the 2nd in line to the throne so I seriously doubt it. They would never put him in danger like that. He may want to go but it will never happen and if he even gets near there it will be in a position of complete and utter safety (basically just a nominal thing) he will never fight in the front line or ever be in danger. How many presidents, prime ministers, kings, queens kids do you see in the front line, none! It is everyone else that gets sent it.

  15. It's just too risky for him to go.  If other soldiers died because he was targeted then there would be an absolute uproar.

  16. Good for him, if true, he is a serving soldier after all, trained at great expense. As long as he poses no risk to those who serve with him, fair play.

  17. According to CBS News on Jan. 14, 2007, "Prince William, currently training as a troop leader within the Blues and Royals, cannot be deployed to war zones because he is second in line to the British crown."

Some people are confusing that with the fact that Prince Harry was ALMOST ready to be deployed.  However, in May, it was reported through Reuters that:

"Prince Harry, the third in line to the throne, will not be sent to serve in Iraq after military commanders decided it was too dangerous. The Ministry of Defence said specific threats made by insurgent groups against Harry, including listing him as a kidnap target, had made any deployment far too risky."

Both William and Harry were interviewed recently on U.S. television, in anticipation of the birthday gala they were about to throw in memory of their mom.  They confirmed the above statement, and said it was not just for Harry's safety, but there was great concern that his being a target could put others in his unit at increased risk.  I viewed that interview, so know what was said!

  18. Are you getting confused with Prince Harry!!

It was him thats supposed to get posted in Afgan, not William

  19. I have not heard anything about that. It surely would hit the news if he were to be employed.
