Is It ok to crop a cucumber plant?

I know tomato plants can be cropped off at top if they get too tall, so as to direct energy into producing fruit

I have a spreading cucumber plant, marching aroud a wire fence, and getting close to tomato plants, where they put out their long tendrils to latch on. CAN I SAFELY CUT OFF SOME OF THESE OUTERMOST VINES , SO AS TO KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL, AND MAYBE HASTEN THE FRUITING?

  1. Yes.  My cucumber plants were creeping out of their big raised bed onto my grass, so I simply mowed the part that had crept out.  Cucumber plants are tough.  I'm a farmgirl from way back, and we grew cucumbers on the farm.

You can crop or prune your cucumber plant if you 'd rather not mow over it!
