I want to learn Italian because one day I want to go to Italy and actually be able to understand what they are saying, not just a few sentences here and there and also are there any free programs online that I can use, they don't teach it at my high school and I doubt my parents will buy me the rossetta stone

  1. it's a fairly simple language to learn and i'm sure you could catch on quickly. if you know french or spanish you wouldn't have a problem at all, the languages are different yet very similar. good luck and have fun, i was in italy this past year and it was phanomenal!! you will have a blast! and enjoy as much gelato as you can, you will miss it when you return!

  2. its one of the more easy languages to learn, you should go on itunes and start downloading podcasts about learning italian, they are free and super helpful. If you have friends that speak spanish they can also help you because they are almost the same. My gf takes italian and she was so happy when she could have a conversation with an italian tourist that came into her job.

  3. No, it is not difficult. It is easier than most other European languages, and the grammar is relatively short compared to many other languages.

Rosetta Stone is expensive and there are several sites on the net that are free and can give you the basics and more. If you type "free Italian courses on line" you will find several that you can look at and use, or pick one favourite one.

To start with look at these:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/italian/

    http://www.italianforyou.it/

    http://www.abruzzo2000.com/course/

Italian is a beautiful language that rolls off the tongue, and you will love Italy when you get there. It is a wonderful country with warm people and so many beautiful things .

PS: I see that you have added to your question whilst I answered, and you have done some Spanish already. This should help you a little,  even if you found it difficult. Anyone can learn a language if they want to, and since you especially favour Italian this should give you an incentive. Just because you feel you made no progress in your Spanish does not mean that  you are not capable of learning  another language. There is nothing to prevent you from trying, and you will have got an insight into Italian ways and basic vocabulary from doing so. There is no-one to compete with or to put you down if you try, and you will progressively feel more self-confident.

PS.2. You already speak both English and Turkish. Fantastic! This proves that you are not immune to learning another language. Turkish is more difficult than Italian.

Just try, and above all try to enjoy it! It makes all the difference.

  4. It wasn't for me, but I speak spanish another romance language so i wouldn't know

  5. italian is difficult because it has a lot of verbs but it's a romantic and beautiful language! There are a lot of site for learning this language as the bbc.
