I love Italy and have my heart set on moving to Italy after university. I plan on becoming a car designer, so will prob. be working and in Turin. Recently though I have seen the huge riots in Rome on T.V, and have read about large social problems in the cities. I have also read about the presence of the Mafia, which has made Napoli an unsafe place. So, what I'm saying is, are there severe problems in Italy at the mo.? I'd probably be moving to Italy in 2010, so are these problems longterm ones. Finally I'd love to hear from anyone who's lived in Turin

  1. TORINO, TORINO, TORINO... best city...

people say it is boring and industrial but Torino has a great heart, new subway and molto caro...... and very close to other great Euro cities...

    you'll love it!

  2. First, life is a mystery. There is no way to know what will be tomorrow, let alone in 2010. If you love Italy, then enjoy. There is always something going on everywhere in the world. If you want to live in Torino, then why are you focusing on what is going on in Roma and Napoli-they are far away. Italy has gotten very expensive and Torino is one of the more expensive areas to live in.

  3. i have been to italy  i love it!

dont allow the few negatives overcome the plenty of positive in ur decision!

think about the food, the weather, the fashion & the gorgeous men!

mafia....??? welll we in the uk call our crowds the hooligans!

am sure you wil not make the negative thoughts taboo your going to italy!

  4. chill out... every big city's got its own problems with criminality... therefor we couldn't live anywhere but in the north pole!... i know about rome these days... it's terrible, but it's ok...

bad things can happen as in other countries!

i don't want to leave my country, cuz it's the place that makes me feel better in the world...

just think of food, art, and A LOT OF FUN everywhere, everyday! people are so nice!

  5. I lived in Turin for 1 year but I'm from Rome.

Well, about the riot I think you're referring after a rumen guy that raped and killed a woman.

That's very rare, and the people was against the police probably, the don't do enough to protect them.

Rome is safety compare to other city, I found Turin less safety then Rome, there are a lot of immigrants and some historic districts are busy of drug dealers. About Turin search on Internet news on the Murazzi (police, drug, Murazzi), this nice place to go in the evening is always on the news.

Beside that Turin is nice, is the town invented the aperitif, just cold in the winter.

Another place where you have to look for (linked with your job) is Maranello and his region (Emilia Romagna) easily life, friendly people.........

I walked in to some district of Detroit and Chicago and I know what you're saying to be safety. Napoli can be compared to these city, (but is nice) obviously you have to stay care full every where in the world.

Mafia, is bigger in other countries then Italy, and is not an issue that can affect you as single citizen. You can't see the mafia.

Look for Benetton factory, is not just for cars, but a smart guy can be send the resume there. http://www.fabrica.it/

  6. I have heard that US has 10,000 shot dead per year and that there are more weapons than people. Is it safe?

  7. Hi! I live in Turin, and i'm really glad to know that someone will probably come to live here...

About the problems which make you reasonably uncertain and worried, you have to understand that those had always been and will be in Italy for ever, but it's in my opinion that all over the world, there are problems like that, even the Mafia, which is believed to be only in Italy, I don't think so...

However, Turin is a very nice place to live: not big neither small, a cultural city as an "industrial centre", but what I like most of my town is its sparkly air, nice and prudential people and its way of being unique without trying to get exposure...

Hope to have helped you, bye!
