  1. In a nutshell, no.

Any sport carries with it a chance of injury. But really, rugby has just as many chances as getting you hurt as does football, soccer, or baseball.

If you listen to your coaches, and learn how to play the sport, you should be fine.

The biggest thing to remember in rugby, for Americans learning the game: rugby is a contact sport, football is a collision sport. You're not trying to get that huge hit every time in rugby, you're trying to get the guy to the ground.

Expect cuts, bruises, and maybe the occasional broken nose, but really serious injuries in rugby are truthfully pretty few and far between.

  2. Unfortunately in north america, most people dont play rugby dont do it because rugby is the best sport in the world, they play to hurt people. I persoanally try to hurt as many people as I can if were facing a bunch of jerks . but dont be discouraged, you probally wont be hurt badly at all.

  3. Not really. There is always a certain amount of risk in any sport. It is neither less nor more than any other. I played rugby from year three in primary school and the only injuries I've had were mainly bruises, strains, cuts and scrapes. The only broken bones I've had playing sport came from cricket.
