Is Jack Buck's 1988 world series call of Kirk Gibsons homerun is the best ever, "I don't believe what i just saw"

I also like Buck's 1991 Kirby Puckett game 6 world series home run call because he did not say much "and we will see you tomorrow night" the roar of the crowd was awesome.

He did not hog the mike like some guys just babble forever, he kept it short & classic.

  1. yes

  2. yeah

  3. Great call, but will never beat "The shot heard round the world".

  4. My favorite was the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" is the term given to the walk-off home run hit by New York Giants outfielder Bobby Thomson off Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher Ralph Branca at the Polo Grounds to win the National League pennant at 3:58 p.m. EST on October 3, 1951. As a result of the "shot" (baseball slang for "home run" or any hard-hit ball), the Giants won the game 5-4, defeating the Dodgers in their pennant playoff series, two games to one.

There's a long drive... it's gonna be, I believe...THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! Bobby Thomson hits into the lower deck of the left-field stands! The Giants win the pennant and they're goin' crazy, they're goin' crazy! HEEEY-OH!!!

  5. I think it was, although I also liked his call with Ozzie Smith ("Go crazy, folks! Go crazy!")

It's too bad his son has nowhere near as much talent as he did.

  6. I agree. He was the best broadcaster ever.

  7. One of the best

  8. I absolutely loved the call.  Jack Buck was one of the finest play-by-play men in the history of baseball.  How about the Ozzie Smith home run...."Go crazy....."  That's what the game is all about.

    Thanks for the memories!

  9. I agree with the "Shot heard 'round the world" but nobody has mentioned who the announcer was.  Let's give credit to Giants announcer Russ Hodges.

edit: Well I see somebody now added Hodges' name.
