I think that James Blake is underrated. He is a really talented tennis player AND he graduated from HARVARD!

but some people who play tennis have never heard of him!

I think james blake is a really good role model and should be given more credit than he already has!

Do you agree or disagree?

  1. Blake didn't graduate from Harvard.  He left early to turn pro.  And he's extremely overrated in my opinion.  He's very talented, I'll give him that, but he has a dismal record in the grand slams.  The only reason why he is talked about at all is because he's American, and because he recovered from a broken neck in 2004 and wrote a book about it.

  2. i think james is a real inspiration.i met him last year at a book signing. He is a nice guy, no doubt about it but his tennis isn't very impressive right now. he loses to ppl ranked so much less than him.

  3. i agree ive met james and his brother thomas and they are both very well spoken smart and great role model for all. his mom is a pretty good tennis player and if you didnt know his brother thomas is also a good tennis player he just never did as well as james did on tour. he also has another brother im not sure if it is one or two but they arent in the lime light because they dont want to be. but anyways back to your question he deffinately needs to be a role model and the tennis players that dont know him need to think hard i mean he has been in the top ten and in the last who knows how many davis cups.

  4. No, He is not underrated.Good player consistently top 10 but he is not not underrated nor overrated. Daveydenko-Not my cup of tea but he is underrated

  5. Underrated?  Definitely NOT.  I don't know how he's gotten ranked inside the top 10.  I'm a big fan of his, but he's definitely NOT underrrated.  If anything he's very overrated.

  6. It seems like James is a really nice guy and stuff, but in terms of being a great player, he isn't underrated. If anything, he's probably a little overrated, like most American pros. Even though I live in the US, I get really annoyed how the commentators and the sports channels always focus on our players when there are much better ones just as deserving of our attentions. For example, ESPN2 will insist on showing a match of an American player ranked at like 120, but they wont show matches of some of the best top ten guys like Wawrinka or Gasquet.

  7. he got a great ***!!!!!

  8. agree

  9. Under rated? I tend to differ. While I like him, he hasnt proved to many, and himself for that matter, that he belongs out there, for he hasnt had a big win and seems to only go so far. Despite his struggles on clay and grass, much more was expected from him on hard courts. he could steamroll at times, then hits a wall. Almost as if he limits himself to his ability. I do see him being quite successful after tennis with his educationaal backround and brains though.

  10. No, he's a very talented player, moreso than Andy Roddick. But his results are very dissapointing.

  11. I don't agree. While it is great that he graduated from college and is a top 10 player he sort of overrated. His results in slams are very disappointing.

  12. Graduating from Harvard doesn't mean he's the best tennis player in the world! I honestly don't think he should be given more credit. I know bad things have happened to him in his lifetime like being paralyzed, but he's now in shape. He just hasn't shown me that he can perform as well as I thought he would.
