Is January a good time to shop in the US?

I'm going to be going to America in January, and I've been hearing that there are a lot of good sales at the time, and I just wanted to know if that's true? I'll get in around the 11th, and I need to buy warm clothes, because I'm going to be attending University . Also, what are some good places to shop?

it's always a good time to shop in the u.s. trust me i live in Italy and I'll be shopping in august

Usually yes, there are   very good deals. especially because retailers want to get rid of their old stock for the new coming year. so you may find really good deals. Look for places called "Malls" anything in a mall is pretty decent place.

Definately may be the best time to shop. After Christmas sales are awesome! However, warm clothes may not be easy to find at the deep discounts that you will find for a lot of the Christmas gear. They usually start the big sales on anything warm that is not Christmasy in Feb as they start getting their Spring gear in. Definately hit the malls, I suggest maybe Steve and Barry's and Old Navy which already have pretty awesome prices on clothes before sales.

after christmas sales can be money saving. its also a good time because businesses have to get rid of their stock.
