Is Jason Maas overrated?

I don't understand this. In Edmonton, he played great in 2004 when Ray went to the NFL, and was a more than capable back-up when Ray came back. He goes to Hamilton and deos nothing. Is it more of a case of Hamilton being S****y than a Maas problem? And will Casey Printers make any difference in Steeltown?

  1. Hamilton is just plain bad.  They don't have any real great receivers and an O line that's like swiss cheese.  Maas also may not be as good as his past indicates simply because he played on good teams with good systems.  If he gets to play in Montreal we'll finally get to see if it's him or the team because that's a pretty good club.

  2. Quite the opposite.  I've never heard of him, so by definition he is most definitely UNDERrated.

  3. I don't know what happened to him in Hamilton.  Could it be that the team did not rally around him?  He always seemed very sincere, except for one thing, he took it very hard and looked depressed when he went bad on any plays, etc.  I wonder if he is a little depressive and hard to work along side?  We may get the answer when Printers plays this Sat...

  4. As usual, I agree with PuckDat.  Maas had a lot of talent around him in Edmonton that just wasn't there in Hamilton.  To give him some credit it should be noted that an offensive penalty wipes out a completed pass along with any gain that might have been made - and Hamilton takes way too many penalties.  Maas likely won't see much action in Montreal if Brady can replicate his perfect performance from last Sunday (300 yards, no interceptions).  The Als also have Mike McMahon now, and as of this morning they still have Brad Banks and AC, and a sixth QB on the practice squad.  Despite what Popp is saying, I figure Maas will be traded this week, or outright released.  If they don't put AC on the 9 week injury list they will have a cap problem.  (Does anyone even need Maas?)

Casey Printers will make a difference.  He's incredibly mobile and he won't make as many bad decisions that Chang makes .  Still, the o-line is porous and takes too many penalties and the receivers aren't stellar either.  They won't win any more games this year than they would have without him, but they will be more entertaining.

  5. I do not think he is overrated, but having said that, I do not think he is a CFL starter either.

His role has proven to be best utilized when he comes off the bench in relief.

  6. He is not overrated, his team just cant block for him...hes too slow of a qb for their system....Printers is a bit faster and will do more but dont think hes gonna do this all alone, hes not that great of a qb.
