Question:

Is Jimmie the frontrunner for the championship now?

Six of the last 10 championships have been won by the driver that won the Brickyard 400! 2 years ago, when Jimmie won it for the first time, he went on to win his first championship. Will history repeat itself, does this mean Jimmie has at least a 60% chance of making history this year by winning his 3rd championship in a row? LOL

  1. NO!

  2. We will see when the chase actually begins.

I sure hope it isn't a blow out.  I would actually like to see them fighting for the top spot all the way to the last race.

It has been such a boring year so far in racing, to have it come down to the last race with only 10-15 points  between first and 5th would be great.

  3. Its hard to say that Jimmie is the front runner when Kyle Busch has won 7 out of 20 races so far (that's close to winning half of the races). Jimmie is definitely close, because I question that Kyle can race consistent though 10 races in the Chase.

  4. idk, still too early to say..But I will confess to you this much Treg, he's the one I fear the most.

  5. JJ seems to really come on strong towards the end of the season. He's a definite threat to win the chase again.

  6. I think probably the frontrunner is still Kyle Busch in the majority of mindsets, but I personally have never counted Jimmie Johnson out of a 3rd in a row. Someone called him the poster child of NASCAR and I agree he fits that image. At this point, though, I think it's still a toss up.

  7. Jimmie has a STRONG possibility to make his 3rd straight championship. I think Kyle will give him a run for his money though. Just remember it's not how many races you win, it's keeping up the consistency. The 10 points help when the chase begins but look at Bowyer last year. He was right up there with no wins. My money is on Jimmie! GO 48!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Not at all. Hendrick is always good at Indy. And I am afraid Kyle will be back in victory lane next week. Watch and see. Everybody has off weeks, Kyle just has less of them so even one week without winning seems like a slump. If there werent so many cautions he would have finished higher cause his car was better on long runs, but there werent any. Sorry but Jimmie is still 4th in points and 1 race for Kyle is not a slump even though it seems like it with all his wins. Either way unless someone played some major strategy I think Jimmie would have won without the cautions too. As for Kyle he will be back next week hungrier than ever.

As I look at the top of the standings I see Kyle Buschs name with 7 wins and 3 of the last 5.

  9. it all depends if he can outcheat the competition and not get caught

  10. well he's one of them. I'd say right now the frontrunners are -

    kyle busch

    dale jr.

    jimmie johnson

    carl edwards

  11. Not Yet!....it ain't over til the fat lady sings!

  12. I think the front runner is JJ Yeley (smile). Sorry, couldn't resist.

I believe Jimmie has the best chance of beating Kyle for the championship. Although I'm hoping Jeff Gordon will come on strong and take it from them both.

  13. never say never.   I think my boy Kyle will run with it but Jimmie will before Jr.

  14. Yes, this puts him back in contention. Its the final stretch of the season and Jimmie always does good in the final stretch. He can do it again!
