  1. When you  go to Orlando to see the attractions, you will find people giving you a "gift", or even money/tickets/etc, just to visit their "condo community".

When you go, you already know this is not costing you anything.

You go, you sit, you listen to their eloquent delivery, and then the tour is over and you get ready to leave.

It may take you 5 times of saying "I am NOT interested" before you finally get your free gift, money, tickets, etc.

You are going for an interview.

Your mom will be told "your kids have promise", for a small fee I have the right connections and can hook you up.

Just as it did not cost any money (other than the time invested) to go see the condo community, or go to the interview....before you leave there will be a sales pitch.

    Be ready for it.

Don't throw away the chance to go through the experience for the first time ....as it is a schooling in itself is it not?   You need this.

Just tell yourself you are NOT going to give any money at that time.  Then go home, talk about it, perhaps even go to another 'interview" to compare the offers.

The most important thing to remember is to stay in control and don't fall for the "this is your only chance" routine.

GOOD LUCK to you in your ambitions friend :-)

  2. John Casablancas is a notorious and long-standing scam, your mother is absolutely right.

Same goes for Barbizon and John Robert Powers.

    Your mom's a sharp cookie.

  3. Interesting advice.  First, remember the John Casablanca himself is the founder of Elite Model Management, a very great Modeling Agency.  Second, the John Casablanca in your area is independently owned and licensed by the state.  Check out the licensing with the the state...odds are that it is a school.  Finally, look at the opportunity in your area.  John Casablanca may not be your only option, but never call any organization a SCAM unless you have personal experience in investing in something that you did not receive.  Remember to get everything in writing.  SCAM is a much to easy word used in the fashion and entertainment industry, used by people that can not afford to enter programs that might move them forward.  You have to be the judge.

Just an important side note...Cindy Crawford attended John Casablanca in the Chicago area when she was a young teen.

  4. Most likely. There are tons of acting scams out there that prey on people just like you. They get your hopes up and everything and then they slip in the $100 fee you owe them. Personally I think its 100% wrong. Why they do it I don't know? You just have to do your research, lots and lots of research, but at the end of it all its worth the research.

  5. Yes, so is John Robert Powers and many other "acting agencies." I went to an audition something like that (I think it was John Robert Powers) and my mom told me I didn't make it. I saw on the news about a few years later and learned how they [and many other auditioning companies] are a scam. I asked my mom did I really not make it, she told me I did, and my aunt looked into it to see that it was a fake. Do not go through with it. Your mother is very smart.
