I l;ive in southeast Ohio and have decided to start a lawn mowing business. Is it now too late to start one? Today is July 4th. I am worried it is too late, but I have a unique oppurtunity to get all the power equipment I need to start this business now. I would hate to turn down the oppurtunity.

  1. no its not too late. its now at the hottest time of the year so now would be the time people's grass would grow the fastest.

if you cant actually start your business till late summer and its too late you can do leaf raking in the fall, shoveling of snow in the winter and even in the spring clean up the flowers that drop from the trees and even do some weeding in the spring as well

  2. Remember the old saying "its never too late". With an opportunity like that, you would be foolish not to jump at it! Even though most people have more than likely acquired lawn maintenance personnel for this growing season, there will be many home owners that are unhappy with their present service and will be looking for someone to do a "better" job. Take out a small add in the local newspaper in the garden/lawn service category. Make sure to state what services you will be providing. The unhappy homeowners will be looking in this section "first" to find a new maintenance person. I did such a thing and got 25 responses within a weeks time and filled up shortly after. The ad for a couple weeks did the trick and I had enough customers for the next three years without having to put up flyers on bulletin boards or knocking on doors. If you do a good job and take pride in your work, word of mouth will spread like the black plague and you will have more work than you can handle. Good luck...

  3. Most people have signed a contract at this time of the season.New business is always out there. How bad do you want it?That's the real question.

  4. If you have an opportunity to get really good equipment at a really good price right now, and you can handle the money end, then it might be a good move, especially if there's snow removal equipment included too.   Otherwise, it's a short season left for you to recoup very much of the investment you're going to have to make to get up and running.   And even though the grass does grow every summer, sometimes the snowfall over a winter season is less than expected, leaving a lot of guys Out in the cold, so to speak.

  5. With all the rain we've had in this area,  I'm sure it will be easy to get started. Don't forget to post fliers on store bulletin boards.

  6. Go for it, and ask the same people about snow removal to.
