  1. The name does sound like a MCDOJO.

  2. Yes it is a McDojo.

However, living in Coconut Creek gives you access to one of the best places to train in the world!  American Top Team is in Coconut Creek and that's a top 10 gym in the world.  I wish we had a place of that caliber (or anywhere near that caliber) in Dallas.  You'd be doing yourself a real disservice if you trained anywhere else.

    Here is their address:

    4631 Johnson Road - Suite 1 - Coconut Creek, Florida 33073 - USA

Here is a list of professional fighters that train there:

  3. u want it supersized?  Try something else like wing chung

  4. Just from looking at their website, and doing a search, I would say yes dependign on what you are looking for. You might get more responses if you were to put the link to their website in your question.

    Several things bother me:

    1) It says karate America, but they teach TKD which is a korean style. Karate is a Japanese word. Maybe they did that for marketing since to many people all martial arts are "karate".

    2) I saw at least 3 listings for different schools, so obviously it is  avolumn thing for them.

    3) I saw pictures of kids that couldn't have been older then 7 or 8 wearing Black belts. to me the minimum age for black belt should be 16. Even barring that, there is no way someone 7 or 8 has the mental abilities to be a black belt.

As for other schools, not being able to actually see them makes it hard, and I really think you are going to have to do some legwork.

Here is what you need to do:

    1) Make a list of what you are looking for. Then make a list of all of the schools in your area, and research them as best as possible. For instance if you want weapons training, and a particular school doesn't offer it, cross that one off.

    2) Do a search on here for questions and answers relating on finding a good school and what to avoid. There are many good answers already on here.

    3) visit the schools you have pegged as maybe's, and watch at least 2 classes at each, and compare them to this list.

    4) Choose the best school for what you are wanting out of it.

The fact is that if you cannot bring yourself to do this, you don't have eneough desire or drive to stick with anything anyway.

  5. Yes... we have a few here in Philly. Definitely a mcdojo.

  6. "I began my martial arts training in April of 1997. From the start my main goal was to earn my Black Belt "

Astounding, that's coming from an instructor..... why are they calling it Karate America if it's based on Taekwondo? It's definetely a McDojo, follow Mr. Chris' suggestion, it's definetely a more certified school than this. I doubt Karate America even does sparring.....
