  1. I hope she doesn't try to change.  I've got a feeling history will repeat itself and she'll be treated as badly as Diana was

  2. Your American Public Education is showing!  "Kate" is a shortened name for Catherine.  As an American, I am embarrassed for you, since you are probably too uneducated to be embarrassed for yourself.  I, myself am a result of the American Public Education System, but that didn't keep me from doing a bit on my own.

  3. Miss Middleton's friends protest, " 'No one ever referred to her as Kate - ever' . . . , but her family and close friends have always called her Catherine and that's the way she prefers it," according to the "Daily Mail".

A romantic get away at a villa costing 1,785 pounds per night at the Villa Alumbrea on the island of Mustique is more to the point. I understand princessing  (to coin a verb), or even auditioning for that role, is nice work if you can get it.

  4. Many Catherine's here in the UK have there name shortened to Kate as a nick name. The name Kate also comes from Catherine. I am also an English Catherine. Why are you getting so upset will her name change affect your life in any way?

  5. Her REAL name IS Catherine;"Kate" is just a nickname for "Catherine." The use of Catherine is considered more formal and more in tune with a royal title.William and her friends will continue to call her Kate,if she does use that name. The more formal name will be used with her titles and stylings-for FORMAL occasions and for PROPER mailings, news articles, government papers and the like.

I am American and I am saddened by the lack of manners, style, behavior and intelligence that is prevalent in the world today. There is a code of proper behavior that exists for a reason: it makes life a little easier for everyone if they are all treated with dignity and respect. That is the purpose of etiquette:respect. And etiquette dictates certain ways to use royal titles-formally.If Kate Middleton does marry William, she will be known as Catherine, the Princess William for formal correspondence, but she will also still be "Kate if she wishes."The use of the name Catherine has nothing to do with ACCEPTANCE into the royal family.

  6. Kate is just a shortened version of Katherine so she's not changing her name as Katherine is her given name.

  7. I don't think she's changing her name because her full name is actually Catherine and Kate is just the short form.  Apparently she prefers to be called Catherine.
