  1. In a healthy dog it's annoying rather than serious.  Same as a cough in humans, for some it can be more serious, such as smokers, elderly, babies where it can lead to secondary infections.

  2. Well i dunno, but i read this thing at the vets and it said if it gets too bad without treatment,it can be fatal!

All these websites will give you tons of info on kennel cough.

  4. I wouldnt say 'serious' but serious enough to need anti biotics and keep it away from other dogs for a while.

    It shouldnt be left untreated.

Your dog will be fine with proper treatment.

  5. I'm sorry to say that My mums golden retriever started with kennel cough, He's gone now.

  6. Only if you don't get it treated.

  7. It's very serious and it can be very hard to get rid of. It's a respiratory problem and it is VERY contagious so kudos for taking him to the vet. If serious enough, he will be put on anti bio-tics but its very important that you keep him away from other dogs, because he picked it up from someone else's dog.

  8. Not really to be honest. It can lead to more serious secondary complications like pneumonia in the old or very young, or if it's allowed to continue for a very long time, like years, but it's quite easily treatable. Really it's the discomfort for the dog that's the problem - bad kennel cough can put them off their food and have them (and you) up all night while they hack up phlegm. As to whether your dog's life is in danger - no, certainly not.

  9. It can be treated but unleft and not treated can actually be fatal.

It takes time to get rid of but be patient..

  10. Glad to hear your wife has taken him to the vet, he'll be fine and no it's not serious.

I recently worked at a kennel and we had an outbreak of it.  It spread like wild fire.  My dogs got it too, but put them on anti-biot's (spell check not working, sorry)  and they were fine, it's just the dog flu.  He'll be just fine it takes a couple of weeks sometimes for it to heal.

Also my friends dog got it too, a few months ago and she could not afford to take to vet.  She just kept him away from other dogs and within a week he was ok again.  Good luck and God bless!

  11. Many times it is deadly.  Hope your pooch has something that can be cured.
