Thinking about renting an apartment in that area. I looked at on Google Maps and it's close to the city center, but I'd like to hear from anyone on Yahoo! Answers who live there and get the scoop :) Thanks in advance!

  1. Yes it is, as it is close to Randwick and University of New South Wales. You will find it very popular and may find it a bit hard to get accommodation as you will be vying for places with the students enrolling at the Uni and Sydney prices are steep.

  2. It's not a horrible area. Not a fantastic one either, depending on how fussy you are.

There's a fair bit of public housing around that area so hence more crime than your average suburb.

It's also close to the slowly de-industrialising area of Alexandria (which is now mainly warehouses and furniture shops).

That being said the whole area around there is a fairly eclectic mix with Newtown and Surry Hills being dominated by well to do homosexual couples and music types etc. Definitely depends on how hip you consider yourself. I'm far too conservative for that area.

  3. Yes it is a good area, Lots of public transport and close to beaches and the city.
