What's your opinion of this- in regard to the claim of Kobe being (possibly) the most proficient scorer ever?

Worst Individual Performances Since 1987-88

"The Mamba shows up a whopping 4 times on these lists. with the worst 40+ game and the 2nd-worst 30+ and 10+ games. The Lakers lost all 4 games, most notably last Christmas to Shaq and the Heat. "

  1. Yes

  2. Can u not find a reason to hate.... kobe if not the best,ATLEAST in the top 5

  3. You sound like a Kobe hater. He's not the best, but he is one of the best ever. Scoring is his specialty, although he does play great defense. Don't forget he had the second most points in a game ever. That wasn't a fluke. I also heard from a lot of NBA players they hate to guard him, because he is almost impossible to stop.

  4. h**l ya he's the best of the best, its all about kobe!! yeah, baby kobe is number 1 in everything. i love him sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

    oooooooooooooooooooooo much!!

  5. I've known about this for a long time. It's not common knowledge that Kobe is a great "volume scorer", and a very streaky shooter.

The casual basketball fan will look and see Kobe averaging 30 points, or that he scored 50 half a dozen times in a season, and say wow he's a great scorer. What they don't see is that Kobe has many, if not more awful shooting games than he does great ones.

He'll have a lot of games where he shoots 5-21FG, 6-19FG, 7-22FG, etc. But he's the type of player that shoots, and shoots, and shoots, with the attitude of "if I keep shooting, they'll start to fall". I don't think he ever says to himself, let me work without the ball for a better shot, or let me work not to score, but to open up some things for my teammates.

But anyway, I guess only us die-hard b-ball fans or stat geeks will know how truly "proficient" of a scorer Kobe really is.

    __________

I'd like to add..."Waldo, Waldo, Waldo!" is a perfect example of the casual basketball fan who just doesn't know any better, BUT THINKS HE DOES!

How is a guy that shoots 45% from the feild for his career, unstoppable? Kobe is not unstoppable, he just knows how to get shots up. If he's so unstoppable, he would score MUCH MUCH more efficiently. He wouldn't have gone 7-22 in the deciding game of the 2008 NBA Finals, and shoot only 40% for the series.

The only players you can call practically, or almost unstoppable are Wilt, Jordan, Kareem, and Shaq. You could even throw Larry Bird and Magic Johnson into the mix because they were such deadly passers and scorers.

LOL! You are obviously "In need of help"! You trippin' just like ya' boy Waldo up there. Kobe has limitless range? Sure he does, yet he's only a 34% 3 point shooter for his career??? Yeah, Kobe's a dead eye three point shooter alright, SUUURRRE...(I'm being sarcastic of course). Also, his fade away jumper is a bailout shot.

IF YOU PLAYED BASKETBALL like you said you do, you would know that fade aways are the last shot you would want to take! It's not a shot that will get blocked often because your practically running away from the defender and off balance when your shooting it.

Just be realistic, Kobe is very good...but unstoppable? Get out of LA LA Land people...look at the facts and the game and you should be able to figure this for yourself.

  6. His not the best he needs to practices i reckon he is 5th because he isn't the best shooting basketball player I've seen. I've also  seen a better shooter than Kobe Bryant These are some better shooters than KB i will tell you my list and where KB is:

    1: Tracy McGrady

    2: Shaqullie O'neal

    3: Lebron James

4: MJ (if i ever seen him playe but i bet he was good)

    5: Kobe Bryant

  7. Tyronius, stfu. Kobe isnt unstoppable but but he can shoot over you and make it regurlarly. This is why players dont like playing defense on him because his range is limitless and he can shoot over you and make it easy. His fade-away is unstoppable, although he may miss, but do you see people stopping it....no.

You singled out Waldo tyronius, im singling out you. And im not a causual fan, i actually play b-ball and i know the difference from seeing somebody do something like a fan from being in that situation like a player. When you give your all on defense and you get scored on, it messes with your mind, that is another reason players get discourage while playin defense on Kobe.

  8. Kobe is one of the very best players in the NBA, the reason for this is because he is good at almost all areas of basketball. He has never been,to me, one of the most proficient scorers ever. I like to rank offensive proficiency by looking at a few things. One being FG%, which he was not even in the top 50 in the NBA last season, and thats for qualified players as well. Another is how many points you score, for ever shot you take, or Points Per Shot; There were 27 players last year who averaged over 20 PPG and of those, Kobe did not make it into the top 5 of most Points Per Shot. The final area that I like to take into account is the players and his team style of play; in other words, how often their team likes to pass them the ball on a given posetion, or, are they the definate go to guy, which Kobe definatley is. This makes him also loose a little bit of an edge because of the massive amount of posetions that he gets during one game.
