As you all know by the idiotic comment that academy award winner made concering the best player in the world. What I want to ask is Kobe Bryant really that good? Celtics "fans" claims that the celtics "SHUT DOWN" Kobe Bryant in the finals. Kobe Bryant avgs 25.6pts 5rbs 5asts 2.6stls during the finals. WOW I guess Kobe Bryant is that good when holding someone to 25pts mean that you're shutting them down. So I guess celtics "fans" also agree that Kobe Bryant is the best basketball player in the world.

  1. kobe is one of the greatest players ever i only put mj over him.ya hes that good.

  2. Wakako,

You know a Team means just that.  Kobe is one man.  Kobe is not a a team.  He is a ball hog and that has always been his game plan since Shaq left.  Hello, anybody in there?

EDIT to ADD: Kobe is a shot hog and probably pays the team to give him the lay up.  Lame, Lame, Lame.  Welcome to the world of reality.  AND he should be in jail.  Buahhahahha!

  3. IT TOOK HIM 40 SHOTS TO SCORE 25!. KOBE IS NOTHING MORE THAN NIKE PROPAGANDA!

  4. Kobe is very good. Scoring machine. Clutch shots. Athleticism. Elite individual talent.

But he is NOT as good as hyped. Doesn't play team ball. Doesn't make his team-mates better. Too few assists relative to the amount of hime he holds the ball and frequency of double-teams he attracts. Bad example on and off the court.

Basketball is a team game... can't see a me-first player become the "best in the world" if he can't grasp the essence of the game.

Other "best in the world" in their eras - Russel, Jordan - were excellent individual and team players.

    p.s.

Kobe's Finals stat line reflects how weak Lakers were in crunchtime. Odom and Gasol disappeared in crucial stretches so somebody had to put up the shots. Celtics "shutting down" Kobe does not mean they stopped him from shooting. But they made him work hard, take lower-percentage shots, tired him by end-game... Lakers would have been better off if Kobe took less shots and more players got involved.

In the critical game of the series, it took one Celtic - Paul Pierce - to shut down Kobe. That does NOT make Pierce the best in the world... but shows that Kobe is not the best when it counts.

  5. In my opinion, he IS that good!

  6. scoring 81 pts tells it all.

how can you say a player is not that good when he is 2nd is most points scored in a game???

  7. I wouldn't say he was shut down, he under performed.

When you average 28 points per game on 46% for the season and win league MVP, then run through the western conference playoffs averaging 31 points on 49% shooting, your expecting Kobe to do something grand in the Finals.

Instead his scoring averaging drops 3 points from his regular season average, 6 points from the previous 3 rounds, and his shooting percentage drops from 46/49% to 40% in the Finals.

On top of that his team gave up a 24 point lead and lost, and lost an elimination game by 39 points. Oh yeah, a game in which Kobe shot 7-22FG...that's 32%.

If the Celtics didn't shut him down, they took him down more then a few notches.

  8. Being in the NBA already means that you are good, but Kobe just takes it to a whole new level.

  9. he's the best and forget cocky paul pierce think'n that he's all of that because he won his first title and he's talkin' shlt about kobe now that is disrespect.
