  1. San Soo is San Shou, spoken in a different Chinese dialect.

Kung Fu San Soo from Jimmy Wu is an early form of San Shou, geared more for self-defense.

There is video of it on youtube... see and judge for yourself. I think the first generation of Jimmy Woo's students were pretty tough. I don't know of the later gens.

  2. San Shou is absolutely a valid art. Just ask Cung Le. If you don't know who he is, do a quick Google search or check out his website, cungle.com.

  3. san soo/san shou (same thing) is very similar to muay thai or MMA. San Shou is a more combat oriented form of chinese kung fu, but if you really want to hurt someone, go for san da. San da is the father of san shou and is one of the two martial arts taught to the chinese military, san da is really meant to hurt, cripple, or kill your opponent. san shou had the most dangerous techniques taken out to make it "sport" safe for competitions like the UFC that are held in china They are both very "valid" martial arts, and are really great for both competition and real world fighting.

  4. I like what Bruce Lee said about martial arts, besideds that every art has good and bad and you have to adopt what works for you and discard what doesn't  besides that techniques is useless without the conditioning, speed, and power to apply it. So basicallly any artr is good if you have a good teacer and apply it with accutracy speed and power. Aslo if you are very strong and in awesome anaerobic conditioning you can wear down and over power opponents. This takes more strentgth and conditioning than you maight think however.  But anyways, San Soo is a good art.
