I am talking the 70's and 80's when drivers laid it all on the line and tried to win every race and didnt worry about what everbody else thought. Do you think he would have meshed ok with that group of guys?

  1. Huck, I've been saying this for months and I receive nothing but grief for it. He is definitely old school. All the people who are hating on him so bad just prove it. People forget how many boos drivers like Darrell Waltrip and Earnhardt Sr. got in their early days. As a matter of fact I'm liking Shrub more and more these days. I believe he may win the championship.

  2. He makes me think vitage Dale Earnhardt circa mid-1980s. If someone painted his car with a 3 Wrangler or Goodwrench paint scheme you'd think you went back in time. I wonder if Dale Earnhardt ever had a love child on a trip to Las Vegas? Kyle sure does act and drive like him!

  3. Fans have been begging for more old-school drivers since Dale Srs passing. Now they got one and they just boo him and shower him with debris every time he wins. What is up with that? Show some some respect for this guy he gives it 110% for your entertainment not just to be booed into submission after pulling off another great win. It's time people start recognizing this boys talent with his old school mentality. He is so fun to watch whether you like him or not. He aint your typical carbon copy racer who is careful with his words. Kyle will be the first guy to tell you he hates losing, and what better motivation for him to use to fuel him to win after win. People hate him for the same reasons they loved ole DW and Dale Sr. Let the man be as we all watch from afar as he matures into one of the greats in our sport. Lets go Rowdy!

  4. The granite determination, fortitude, grit, pluck, perserverence, eye on the win, who gives a flying ...attitude, you bet!  He is not just a throw back...he's a reincarnation.

If it weren't for the drivers like Kyle, Denny,  and Tony, and Elliot, and a few others....well NASCAR would be just going in circles as the trolls would say.

  5. he would have been right in there with em and doing a bang up job!

  6. KYLE BUSCH WOULD FIT IN GOOD IN THE EARLY YEARS BUT SO WOULD THE KING OF RACING MIKE WALTRIP

  7. yes and no - he has many of the qualities you mention, but more importantly, i believe he's just the beginning of a new wave of drivers that will transform the nascar landscape about as much as jeff gordon did in the 90s.

  8. No basically for two reasons

    1) The drivers of the 70s & 80s worked on their own cars and had a far greater appreciation of their pit crews and their equipmeny and the cost involved.

    2) He wouldn't run his mouth as he does because if this was the 70s & 80s someone would have punched his lights out by now. Back then NASCAR wouldn't have cared.

He's agressive, but also he's had everything handed to him. Drivers in the 70s & 80 had to work a lot harder.

  9. I have only said this once or twice... He is a spittin image of Darrel Walltrip ( D-W for short) Driving hard and fast, and shootting his mouth of even faster.

Kyle has much skill he learned while coming up threw HMS.  Sometimes, it dosnt show. Many times (such as last night) he proved to alot of people how good he really is.

  10. Nope, he's a giant prick. You never got those in the old days from what I've heard.

  11. No I don't think he is a throwback. He is in a very small group of the most talented drivers to ever race.

    Tim Richman

    Dale Earnhardt

    Kyle Bush

This group always gets respect from everyone who understands how difficult it is to do what they do.

  12. Good observation Danny.

I've said the same thing on more than one occassion myself.

    DW all over again..

Loves playing up that "bad boy" image just the same.

  13. Would not say a throw back to the 70's but yes he has some of the same attitutes that drivers from the 80's had,and has a driving ability that several drivers of the 80's had.

He has been able to learn tracks and competators in such a manner that he is a true threat at any track he is at.

Throwback could be a good term to us with him.
