Is Kyle in over his head?

Question

I am not a Kyle Busch fan, nor am I a hater. If my favorite driver were doing this I would ask the same question. (I scratched my head when he raced in a 24 hour race and caught the car on fire and got burned)

Is Kyle in over his head? I know he has talent and is a good driver but I wonder if trying to run all the races in all the series and be the leader in all of them is wearing him down. It seems he would do better to limit his out of sprint cup races and concentrate on the sprint cup.

It had to be exhausting to fly back and fourth to all these races to qualify this and practice that and fatigue plays a role in ones decision making. He may have just had a bad weekend but maybe he is spreading himself too thin trying to prove something he does not need to...

Well racing in three races can be demanding and I am sure he was exhausted, but he agreed to do it and he stood by it. I gives him kudos for trying. (and I am not a Kyle Busch fan either) I have to give the boy some credit he did all three races and started out pretty good getting 2nd in the truck races but it went down hill from there.  He needs to concentrate on the Cup series in my opinion.

I don't think it affects him (running around the country running races).  He can sleep on the plane if need be.  

If he continually did that (3 races in 3 states in 3 days), maybe.  But, this weekend both the Trucks and Cup are at MIS and Nationwide is in Kentucky.  Kentucky Speedway is only about a 5 hour drive from MIS, so it has to be a short plane ride.

Yes I do. I don't hate Kyle Busch and i don't like him. I think him trying to run every series every week will eventually catch up to him, like Darrell Waltrip said. He is getting too arrogant and thinks he can win in every series every week. He needs to stop racing trucks, and maybe just run in the nationwide once in a while, and just concentrate on Cup.

i think the public should be more informed about post race inspections. the only time we are told anything is when there are points deducted. i wonder how many times he's been fined??

As far as endurance goes he should be able to handle it at his age. Some people have greater stamina than others, and I know that from personal experience. He's still in his learning stage, and he better use it up while he can. That's how great racers make a name for themselves.I don't think Kyle is over his head, and while he's flying he is not exerting any physical energy and is basically resting at that point.

In my opinion yes. Young people often think they are immortal and invincible and that no harm can come to them because they know what they are doing. Sadly, sometimes all that bravedo can come to a difficult end. We see it every year in countless places across the U.S.: teens killed after prom, teens killed after graduation. They get so hyped up on what they are doing the concentration lags. I know Kyle Busch is no longer a teen and he's a very, very bright young man with enormous talent. Here's the "but": he seems driven this year to win everything that crosses his path. To some extent I believe the dismissal from Hendrick and the lack of adoration from fans is fueling this quest he's own. My fear for him is that he is burning too brightly and he's burning the candle from both ends. Frankly, it's almost scary watching him go through this frenzy. Someone he respects needs to slow him down a bit and make a case for keeping a reasonable pace to his career. Right now he seems out of control. JMO.

We were saying the same thing here after he wrecked at Pocono and he had the worst bags under his eyes. One race is physically demanding enough, now he is practicing and flying out to the Nationwide cars. If I were Joe Gibbs, I'd cut him off from the other series. I think that wreck at Pocono was avoidable.

My thoughts are Kyle is basically a good kid who has developed this bad guy image among many fans. The image came from the selfish and arrogant way he carried himself upon entering cup and continuing up until a few weeks ago. He faces booing from the fans every place he races.

Kyle is hurt by this even though he pretends to enjoy it, anyone would be.  Kyles way of dealing with this is to race every race he can and win every race he can.

JGR needs to let him do this up to a point but make sure it isn't affecting his cup performance. The point is eliminating all or most of his other races could affect his cup performance negatively also.

I think your observations are good.  I agree it has to be hard to run all those races.  But he is young and can bounce back.  You only get one shot at life you gotta go for it while you got it.  That may be his intentions.

I don't think it had anything to do with it, he was doing a pretty good job at Pocono, had he have not gone into Jamie Mac, I honestly believe he had a decent shot at winning.

If I were Joe and JD Gibbs I'd let him have one more chance to prove he wasn't fatigued, if he bites the wall again, I'd put the brakes on the whole whirlwind weekend

I agree he may be spreading himself too thin. He could be blowing his championship chances if he doesn't concentrate on the CUP.

He is young and perhaps trying to prove himself and yes may be spreading himself too thin. He has to grow a bit and learn as all drivers do, but he is giving everyone a great show along the way.
