Is LIFELOCK the way to go? (Any competitors? $$)

Question

Is Lifelock the best company or are there better ones that might be less advertised but potentially more affordable? I know a person can do most of the same "credit freezes" themselves but I think you have to repeat that call/process every 90 days unless you can prove you were already a victim of identity theft. Are any other companies as good or better? THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS/HELP.

why not go to the credit reporting agencies and do it because I think lifelock is fake.  The guy who runs it had his credit stolen

Waste of money.  You can put a freeze on your credit file yourself.  It's typically a one time charge with a fee to freeze and refreeze.  

An alert only last about 90 days.  But credit freeze stays till you unfreeze it.  The freeze may not be available in every state yet.

You can really do this all yourself, you don't need a company to do this for you.
