It's semi-enclosed but open to the gulf at one end, and fed by river water at the other. The water is brackish (a mixture of saltwater and fresh) The salinity varies as you move towards/away from the open end.

But, assuming it's for your homework and you only have those two choices, you can consider it as a bay on the Gulf of Mexico. It's not a normal freshwater lake.
