I would have to say he is. What he went through is amazing and than all the talent he has bike riding. This makes him the greates i reckon.

I personally think Greg Lemond and Eddy Merckx were much more amazing than Lance.

I agree with A. You can't argue with 7 Tour victories. Lance was a great cyclist but maybe not such a great person.

Greg Lemond did more for American cycling than Lance ever could. Without Greg, Lance would never even have had a chance to race. He was the first dominating American pro in Europe and showed that we could compete at the highest level. He helped even beyond just American cycling. Greg was the first pro cyclist to demand and receive adequate pay for riders. Before him even the top pros like Tour champ Hinault were paid no more than factory workers.

Greatest what?

He is certainly among the greatest cyclists of all time.  I think its pointless to compare athletes who never went head to head.  Beyond that, he has his strengths and flaws as we all do.

I personally do not thing Lance is the greatest

although he is an incredible athlete when it comes to the sport of cycling, he has plenty of personality flaws, and thinks of himself as a celebrity. I would say that Greg LeMond is the most amazing cyclist

He has some incredible accomplishments, not the least of which is beating cancer, but Eddy Merckxx is probably the best cyclist ever.

Lance geared his training and race schedule around the Tour de France; he even selected his teammates based on how they could support him in the tour. Merckxx just rode like a madman and won just about everything.  No rider has ever won all 3 grand tours in the same year, but Merckxx won 2 a couple times and is the only rider to hold the leader's jersey for at least part of all 3 races in the same year. He would even win the race while also earning the K.O.M. jersey and sprinters jersey as well.

Ask any rider in the pro peloton who's the best ever and most will say Merckxx.
