Now before you answer, look at these numbers:

In what equates to about 8 or 9 full seasons (1340 games) he has a .303 avg with 285 HR and 948 RBI.

His career OPS (.977) is, by the way, higher than that of Vlad Guerrero (.962) and A-ROD (.969).

  1. OPS really isn't being looked at (at the moment) for typical stats, it should be, but I've never seen a writer/voter justify his pick/non-pick by OPS.

That being said, you still need 10 seasons and 4000 at bats just to be on the ballot and very few people, if they retired with the minimum needed to qualify would get in.

Is he a HOFer?  Well, now, no.  If he retired tomorrow, he has no chance at getting in.

You only need to look at the # of people with a .300 avg, 300 hrs and less than 1000 RBI to determine that it, in itself, is not dominance.

If he continues down the line, again, how far.  2500 hits, 500 HRs, 1700 RBI is probably enough to get him elected.

He still has some distance to travel

  2. no

  3. I would give him the possibility of being voted into the Hall of Fame. You never know though we have to see what happens the rest of his career. If he does make it he will not be a first ballot. it will probably take him a little while. Maybe like a Ron Santo type of wait who better make it in soon.

  4. Yeah he'll get to 550 HRs and make it his 1st year on the ballot

  5. He plays 81 games in a little league stadium, reminds me of an overrated Larry Walker, Ellis Burks, Andres Galarraga, Vinny Castilla.

  6. He's a push at this point.  His stadium helps him by about 13% and that is pretty big.  On the other hand, he has 5 really great seasons so far.  He is a little above average at fielding 1B and has some versatility.

He needs at least 3 more great seasons and probably 2 more good ones after that.  It would also help if the Astros got back to being a decent team.

But it is not unreasonable to speculate that he might be.

  7. at this rate yea. probly 3rd or 4th ballot

  8. at this rate yes but its way to early to tell

  9. nno I really don't think he will make it.

  10. Well lets say he finishes his career with 2,500 hits, 400+ HR, and maintains a .295+ career average.  Looks like HOF material, but you really can't tell yet.
