  1. Lang Ping is chinese she is considered to be one of the greatest volleyball players in the world. She played for china in the 1970's olympics and was nicknamed the iron fist.

  2. And she was involved in the last gold medal match for the USA women's team in 1984.  She played for China when they beat the USA team for the gold medal match.

  3. umm, China does not allow duel citizenship...

i think she has a green card.

  4. She has dual-citizenship in both the US and China. However, she was born in China.

She is very well-known in China as Volleyball is the Number 1 sport. She played for the Chinese National team and also coached them in Sydney. Her nickname was the Iron Hammer though, not the Iron Fist.

  5. for coaching the US team she might have got the green card....

i don't think she can coach for other than her country if she doesn't have a green card...

    hope this helped..... : >

  6. She should have been naturalized in order to represent USA. Yao Ming is a Green Card holder and he cannot play for team USA.

Lang Ping was on the Chinese team that lost a set 0:15 to American (and the match)... when some Chinese were saying "anyone could do better than that team". The team turned into a "redeem team" and won the rest of the event, and grabbed their championship at the end. At that point, and during their three-peat, Lang Ping was a Chinese citizen.

There is no "dual citizenship" in the States, nor in China. For Lang Ping to coach an American, she has to be naturalized first... meaning she has to give up her Chinese citizenship and swear in to US citizenship. When she applied for her US citizenship, "giving up previous citizenship" was part of the wording.

Per wikipedia, her nickname was "iron hammer", which is in-line with her original Chinese nickname. She started coaching US team as a head coach in 2005.
