  1. Lavender essential oil is one of the few that one can use in a neat form (without a carrier oil).  Lavender has a gender tendencies.  Lavender can be used to scent items, the room, bed linen, soaps, lotions.  Lavender is an EXCELLENT after shave potion.  Apply after shaving to heal razor irritation, small cuts or wounds, especially burns.

One chemist was working on something and burned his hand, inadvertly he put his hand in the vat of lavender oil.  From that process he learned the healing properties of lavender.

Lavender is the just tip of the iceberg of the different effects of essential oils topic.  So your reference to hormones it not only effects that but a whole lot of other fields.

  2. Wtf why would it be harmful lol.. i use lavander soap some times and all that happens is i smell sweet :P

    Cheers!

  3. Why would it be harmful?

  4. It seems that lavender and tea tree oils have a constituent that mimics the female hormone called estrogen.  In very young boys this MAY have a very small feminising effect.  During puberty and in adulthood the amounts of estrogen absorbed from oil applied to the skin are so small, compared with the natural levels of testosterone produced by the male body, they have no real effect on "maleness".

In fact in Europe during the 1800's, lavender was the favorite scent used by upper class men.  They used lavender soap when shaving and bathing.  It was considered distinctive without the scent being too effeminate.

I am not convinced by the summary of the doctor's report in the url below, that ALL young boys are at risk, but it is worth reading.

  5. I use a lavender spray that is not for the skin, but can be sprayed on the bedsheets and pillow. The smell of Lavender helps to induce sleep.

  6. No. It does have a "turn on" effect on many women's s*x drive, but usually no effect on a man. the only harm is that lavender is considered feminine, and men will make fun of a man that smells like it.
