Is Lieberman a turncoat or a patriot?

With Joe Lieberman's ringing endorsement of McCain, alongside his not-so-subtle swipes at Obama at the RNC....do you think he is a traitor to the Dem's or just a man willing to buck party loyalties in pursuit of what is best for the country?

I think he is a man that is entitled to have his own opinion and also decide which party is closest to his ideals and the fact that he identifies more with the Republicans then Democrats now should not be held against him as long as he is doing the job he was elected to do and that is do what is best for the American people and the people of his state.

Patriots move in the opposite direction from traitors.  Anyone who moves to the right is a traitor.  Or, if you prefer euphemisms, "turncoat."

He is McCain's long time friend and an Independent. As a Democrat I would expect nothing less than his support for McCain.

This whole business will be over in 6 months and no matter who wins we will all figure out a way to live with the results.

Um... it's politics.  I don't think there's such a thing as being a traitor in such a case.  I do, however, think he's doing what's best for himself, not necessarily for his country.
