  1. It's a real company that doesn't do anything you can't do on your own. A waste of money if you ask me. The company owner, the one who has his SS# on the side of the truck, has been a victim of identify theft several times. If LifeLock doesn't protect him it won't protect you. I believe he is getting sued right now for misrepresenting the companies services.

  2. It's a real company....

  3. it is a real company--- but although they can do no better than you can yourself by placing fraud alerts on your credit. In fact the owner who advertises this is his ss# has had his identity stolen now at least 3 or 4 times

  4. It's a real company, but I think it's a waste of money.  In the ad, the owner gives out his "real" social security number as: 457-55-5462.

This is a bogus ss# !   The way SS#'s are issued is the following:

The first three digits are a number range assigned to your State of birth.

The next two digits are EVEN numbers (the big thing here is that the 5th digit of a SS# CANNOT be an odd number).

The next four digits are random numbers.

That guy is a phony, so I wouldn't trust his company either.

  5. It's a legit business, but I think it's a waste of money.  They do have clients whose identities are stolen.  Nothing is gonna protect you 100%.

  6. Yes it is a real company.

  7. It is not a scam, but nothing can prevent your identity from being misused 100%.  If you go their website they tell you that all the services they provide such as taking you off of mailing lists and ordering/checking your credit report for example can be done on your own.  You are just paying them so you don't have the hassle.  I did read in my local newspaper that they were being sued because some customers thought that their ad campaign was misleading.  For example some cash advance places will allow people to get loans using other people's information, Life Lock would not catch this beacause some don't collect your social security number.  My advice would be to take the time to monitor your credit yourself by ordering your credit report from the 3 largest bureaus (Experian, Transunion, and equifax)  at least once per year to check for errors, remove yourself from preapproved offers for credit and putting a flag on your credit reports so nobody can apply for credit using you ss# without you knowing.  It takes more time, but it is cheaper.
