Is Limewire a Virus?

Question

i want to add music to Movie Maker, and i DO know how, but i don't know how to save music or where to find some that i CAN save. i know that Limewire can crash iPods, because it crashed my siblings'

is it safe to save music from Limewire? i dont want it to crash my comuputer, and i dont want to lose any files. HELP

limewire isent a virus is what you download from limewire that has the viruses in it research bit torrents they are alot safer

what makes u think limewire is a virus? if it's a virus, it will crash your computer as soon as you install it. dont u think so? why would it wait until u download something to make your computer crash? the problem now is the thing that you download. ofcourse we want free things. we dont want to pay for mp3 and stuff, so we have to bare with the risk of getting a virus. but if you did on your firewall, this thing shouldnt be a problem, right? and before u use the file, scan it with your antivirus software.

Limeware itself is not a virus, but it can cause one! I wouldn't chance it!!

well using limewire to download copyrighted music is illegal and is shared among everyone in the world so anyone could drop a virus in along with a song and you could get a virus and that would crash your computer but i don't think that limewire itself could crash anything.

Every piece of software is going to have some kind of exploit, but there are several things you can do in order to keep yourself safe no matter what PC or operating system you use.



1. Be careful what type of sites you visit. There are many unscrupulous websites out there that will readily infect your machine with a virus or adware.

2. Instead of downloading music, go to the store and buy the CD or buy the MP3’s from legit sites. Not only will you avoid any financially difficult legal situation, you'll also avoid any website that promises free MP3 downloads but only delivers viruses and adware.

3. Instead of looking for software cracks or serials online, look for coupons. The "crackz" scene is filled to the brim with malicious websites. You're not safe when you're visiting these "seedier" websites.

4. Do not run in Administrator mode. You should only run in Administrator mode when you're installing hardware or software, but running in a lower security mode you'll avoid a lot of the more invasive attacks.

Limewire is not a virus.  But like any program that can download from the Internet it can help you download viruses.

So if you download something and are not careful to scan it with anti-virus software than you are at risk, even if you use Internet Explorer or Firefox or torrents or anything else to download it.

Download Frostwire.  I seem to have fewer music files with viruses and they do a little better job of weeding out fake files.

lime gives you tons of viruses but the new one lime wire pro will never give you viruses
