Is Limewire an illegal Program to have?

I want to get it, but I'm scared with all the stuff ppl have been telling me. Is any of these programs legal?

It's not illegal to have limewire on your computer but it is illegal to use it for downloading copyright media.

limewire the program itself its illegal, its the sharing the files is illegal, but there is way where you can down load but not share the files, which isnt illegal

Limewire is no illegal, but what you downlaod from it is, so if your download music or stuff you normally would have to pay for that is not only illegal, but a very good way at infecting your computer with virus's and spyware. You need to understand that everything that is on limewire, is like a storage bank, that people put stuff into it and you can download what they put in, so you basicly taking these downloads right from their computer. And if their computer is infected, that means you will get infected as well.

So beware of using it.

LimeWire itself isn't illegal, but if you use it to download copyrighted files for free (this includes music, pictures, videos and even documents) that you are effectively stealing from the owners and THAT is illegal.

This is regardless of whatever country you're in; the law is the same all over. If you share things which have a licence on LimeWire than that is fine, as the owner has given you permission to download the file. Otherwise you are doing something illegal.
