I have been told that the fish Ling is a cross between Cod and an Eel. How is this possible. I KNOW it looks as though it is but I think this is not actually possible. Can anybody tell me?

  1. Of course, Ling is a totally different species, despite its closeness to cod and eel it can be refered to several species of fish:Burbot,Lota lota,

    ;Blue ling,Molva dypterygia;Cobia,Rachycentron canadum;Common ling,Molva molva;Pink cusk-eel; Genypterus blacodes;Red hake, Urophycis chuss.

  2. Cod and eel are only distantly related to each other, so there is no prospect of a cross between them.  The other answers are correct.

  3. 'Any of several deepwater long-bodied fishes of the cod family found in the North Atlantic. (Genus Molva, family Gadidae.)'

Not sure if this is helps but this is what I found out eventually.
